Roger Griffiths RBSA is a self-taught landscape artist using watercolours and mixed media with acrylic paints. He is a retired landscape architect with an interest in geology and the physical activities which shaped the landscape. Roger was elected an RBSA Member in 2011, has exhibited in the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at the Mall Galleries, and, in 2015, appeared on Sky TV’s Landscape Artist of the Year, painting at Trelissick in Cornwall.
His painting process starts with sketches on site which are then abstracted, cropped, and collaged. These are used as a reference for a free interpretation and expression of the landscape – its context, geology, landform, natural and man-made features, the weather, and light conditions.
