Recasting the Shadow

…female intuition & the Ancestral Knower

Working through ideas related to the female psyche, Gabrielle Roberts-Dalton has explored menopause, ageing, persona, Hagitude/Cronedom female stories, and fairytales. In these works, she reassesses the importance of physically touching nature, down to the basic touch of grass and finding awe and enchantment in the life/death/life nature. Her paintings try to open a portal into another world of intuition and the imagination. Roberts-Dalton works in series of oil paintings and drawings that overlap and could easily branch out in numerous directions. She follows an instinctual and fluid path, responding to the images, mark making, and colour. The viewer will always bring their own feelings and experience when looking at the pieces.
