Linocut, Myths and Poems
These recent linocuts by Eric Gaskell employ Greek myth and poetry as a starting point for exploring the manipulation of colour, shape, and pattern. The abstraction of reality is equally significant, with the inclusion of realistic elements such as boats and trees serving as a means to avoid complete abstraction. These compositions provide Gaskell with ample freedom to develop diverse descriptive techniques for the clouds, water, and land elements.
