Linda Nevill ARBSA has been an elected Associate Member of the RBSA since 2018. Capturing the excitement she feels when by the sea or in hills and mountains is important to her. She works in a range of media including print processes, oils and acrylics and collage. Being totally absorbed and ‘in the flow’ is a state that she finds particularly rewarding.

Currently Linda is creating some small plein air sketches and paint studies as a warm up to going away with a group of artists in May for a week of painting in the Lake District. She has been given a new, light pochade box and tripod which she is excited to use. Normally working alone in the studio, she looks forward to the company and support of a group of artists working outside together. Although she has worked outside in all weathers and is packing waterproof trousers, she hopes that it doesn’t rain!

During the winter, Linda created a large body of landscape work using soft pastels and 13 of these are currently being exhibited at Ironbridge Fine Arts Gallery as a featured artist in their Spring exhibition for three months, finishing at the end of May.

6 pastel landscapes are also framed and ready to be shown in the RBSA Candidates Exhibition this summer.
A completely different project that she is taking part in is one which involves working on a very small scale, creating one artwork a week on a playing card. The group meets monthly to show their work which is easy to carry in a jacket pocket! It’s a challenge to work on such a small scale and Linda has decided to use different media, or combinations of media, each month. When creating images of the mountainous Lake District in February in acrylic paint on a 6cm x 9cm card, capturing the monumental in a tiny format was challenging. Linda likes to work in her studio or on location most days and feels at her best when that is possible. Art is an important part of her life.
