Candidates 2026 Election Results Announced

On Sunday 26 April the Society held its annual general meeting during which votes were counted, and the results of the Candidates 2026 election were announced.
The annual RBSA Candidates Exhibition allows the Society to grow its Membership. Artists who have previously exhibited in RBSA open exhibitions may submit a body of work and artist’s statement for consideration, those chosen by the RBSA Officers go forward and have their work exhibited in the Candidates Exhibition. Existing Members and Associates are asked to visit the exhibition and cast their votes for who they would like to see become part of the Society. This year there were 18 artists hoping to be elected as RBSA Associates and five existing Associates hoping to progress to become full Members.
For existing Members and Associates, voting in the Candidates election is one of the most important aspects of their Membership. Not only does the process help shape the Membership of the future, it also ensures the continuation of the Society. As well as considering the work on display, voters read every artist’s statement to ensure they understand each body of work and the artistic practice behind it.
