Jan Gay RBSA

August 4 - September 12

Rhythmic brush strokes, vibrant tones, and a richness of light are central to Jan Gay’s collection. What could be every day, becomes inspirational as she explores the energy of shape, colour, and form. Excitement builds from the seemingly insignificant.

Whether painting plein air or in her studio, the initial thrill of starting the work creates vitality in her mark making, before a period of reflection. Evoking the way transient moments, a motherly embrace in a queue or light on the canal water, become a tangible memory.

Jan’s lifelong love of painting has been influenced by many artists, including Paul Cezanne, Mary Cassatt and, more recently, Fred Cuming.

In 2008 Jan became an RBSA Member. She studied painting and ceramics in Sussex University, and Bournville Art School.

Exhibition closes: Saturday 12 September 5.00pm
