Sylvie Dattas

Sylvie Dattas was born in Paris and came over to England as a child with her family in 1955. She trained in Fine Art at Bournville School of Art and at Birmingham Polytechnic.

She has exhibited mainly in the West Midlands and has been a Member of the RBSA since 1997 and also exhibits regularly with the Birmingham Art Circle, the Birmingham and Midland Pastel Society and Artists International.

Sylvie predominately works in oils and pastel. Her natural subject matter is landscape with a special affinity to trees and foliage. She is also drawn to the intangible qualities of twilight. The pictures reflect the exciting or absorbing qualities of that which inspires her and invite the viewer to dream or meditate and share in the inherent oneness of all.

Dattas also works as a complementary therapist and is a singing member of the Birmingham Festival Choral Society.
