Robert Swingler is a self-taught watercolour and oil painter. He is also a keen draughtsman drawing in several mediums but mainly pen and ink. Swingler’s subjects are land, town and seascapes together with industrial subjects. His principal medium is watercolour and is a past president of the Birmingham Watercolour Society and an elected member of the Easel Club.
His main sources for his work are plein air sketches which he does wherever possible, so the essential atmosphere can be absorbed to complete a successful work in the studio.
