Rob Leckey

Rob Leckey is a retired Primary School Headteacher, although has painted all his life. It is only in recent years that he has concentrated on exhibiting his work.

He was elected as an Associate of the RBSA in 2014. Rob has exhibited and received awards in all the local Shropshire Exhibitions and Galleries and The Royal Society of British Artists (Mall Galleries) and his work was featured in an article in the December 2013 issue of Artist Magazine.

Primarily Rob works with acrylic paint and ink, collage and mixed media. The acrylics are applied with rollers, pieces of shaped wood, card and any found materials. Collage materials comprise of torn or shaped tissue paper, newsprint, and magazine illustrations. Details are also added with oil and chalk pastels, pen and ink.

Like many artists, his inspiration comes from the subject matter. He finds experimenting with colour, media and techniques very rewarding. By the very nature of how he applies the collage, paint and inks, he can never fully predict the outcome. Along the way many accidents happen, interesting colours, textures and unique shapes emerge. Boats and harbours, landscape, including his native Shropshire, town and cityscapes all provided inspiration for his impressionist style.
