Following a career working in property in Central London, Mary Williams started to paint again after moving to Hampshire. There have been many excellent tutors who have helped her along the way, and she is still learning and experimenting. Now living near the coast and the New Forest, where she walks her dog, she is able to observe and absorb the landscape so as to create her paintings in the studio. It is here where her fascination of the reaction of ink and watercolour with paper materialises, and where she endeavours to capture that fragile balance between the immediate nature of the medium and formal control.
After exhibiting with the RBSA for several years Mary was elected an Associate in 2021. She has also exhibited with the Royal institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal West Academy.
