Maddie Webb is a contemporary fine artist and arts educator based in Leamington Spa, working at the intersection of painting, place, and community. Her practice explores landscapes through a blend of abstraction and representation, drawing inspiration from natural environments in transition; shifting light, advancing mist, and the meeting points of sea, land, and sky. These elemental movements mirror emotional states and sensory experiences, which she translates into layered paintings that evoke depth, ambiguity, and atmosphere.
Maddie’s process is intuitive and responsive. Working primarily in oil paints, she builds luminous, immersive compositions through layered glazes that leave space for personal interpretation. Each painting arises from a dialogue between observation and imagination, often rooted in a sense of place yet untethered from fixed geography. She is particularly interested in how memory and mood shape our perception of landscape, and how painting can become a vessel for the intangible.
Alongside her studio practice, Maddie is the co-founder of Lighthaus Arts CIC, a not-for-profit organisation committed to widening access to the arts. Lighthaus Arts delivers community-led projects, exhibitions, and workshops focused on social engagement, creative wellbeing, and cultural equity. Recently, she co-led a feasibility study commissioned and funded by Warwick District Council, envisioning a new multi-functional community arts space in Leamington Spa.
Maddie’s dual focus on individual expression and collective creativity reflects her belief that art is both a personal practice and a shared experience. Whether on canvas or in the community, her work aims to foster connection, challenge boundaries, and invite others into meaningful creative dialogue.
As she continues to develop her practice, Maddie remains inspired by opportunities that merge artistic exploration with social impact, enriching both local environments and broader conversations in contemporary art.
