Jonnie Turpie

Jonnie Turpie pursued a successful creative industries career which included establishing Birmingham based Maverick TV, an independent production company producing innovative and award-winning television and digital content. This was preceded by an MA at the RCA in 1979. In 2017 he embarked on a PhD at Birmingham School of Art exploring: The drawn serigraph: An investigation through portraiture, in which he explores subtle digital and analogue techniques of image making and the complex relationships between Artist and Subject. He has written articles on Fine Art Printmaking, Portraiture and Digital Photography. He works across relief and intaglio print processes, drawing, and photography which are documented on his website and Instagram channels. He exhibits regularly at the RBSA and recently was accepted for the Print and drawing exhibitions with works focussed on responses to his diagnosis of Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia which celebrate the visual positives of this experience.
