Jenny Mason-Gunning

Jenny Mason-Gunning has been immersed in printmaking since childhood, learning etching from her father, a celebrated printmaker. During her Specialist Printmaking Degree at Cheltenham University, she began selling her work, teaching workshops, and refining her skills. After completing her degree, Jenny moved to Ironbridge, where she opened her printmaking studio and gallery. Teaching herself framing and developing her business acumen, she built the thriving enterprise she now co-runs with her sister, Sarah, and husband, Dave MG.

Jenny’s work is inspired by megalithic monuments and abandoned industrial and historic sites, capturing their history as nature reclaims them. Her prints convey their haunting beauty and historical significance. Proficient in aquatint etching, photoetching, mezzotint, collagraph, lino, woodblock, and solar plate, she also develops eco-friendly printmaking products, including custom inks, grounds and varnishes used worldwide.

Beyond her own work, Jenny produces plates and editions for renowned printmakers, publishing houses, and private clients. Passionate about teaching, she offers 1-2-1 workshops, demonstrations, and continuously refines traditional techniques to make printmaking accessible to all.

While her husband, Dave MG, now oversees the design and production of Gunning Etching Presses with innovative upgrades, Jenny’s focus remains on her printmaking. She is also writing a comprehensive book on printmaking for Bloomsbury, set for publication in 2026. Her dedication to printmaking, her gallery, and her community underscores her mission: to inspire and connect others through the transformative joy of printmaking.
