Gwenda Jones

Gwenda Jones is a studio-based sculptor in central Birmingham, working nationwide and living rurally outside Lichfield. She discovered her affinity for clay while studying Architecture, later specialising in Three-Dimensional Design, and graduating with a BA Hons in 1991.

An Associate of the RBSA, Gwenda practices as an exhibiting sculptor and educator, delivering master-classes and inclusive workshops, including for those with special educational needs.

Gwenda’s practice explores empathy between people, society, nature, and place, engaging with themes of agency, resilience, and identity. Focusing on emotional presence, she uses posture, gesture, and expression to reveal layered experiences shaping individuals and communities.

In 2025, Gwenda was a finalist in the Women in Art Prize, exhibiting in London galleries across Marylebone and Hampstead, and at the Mall Galleries with the Society of Women Artists. She has exhibited nationally in open and prize exhibitions, and her work is held in private collections internationally.

Working intuitively from life, Gwenda allows texture and form to emerge through direct engagement, primarily with clay. Surfaces are enriched with layered colour and patina, informed by lived experience, rural and city landscapes, verdigris roofscapes, and global travels.

Gwenda welcomes commissions and delivers workshops that connect people with clay. creativity, and place.
