Claire Senna is a ceramic artist whose work explores the delicate interplay between gravity, balance, and the preciousness of Earth. Drawing inspiration from planetary forms and cosmic forces, her vessels often feature small bases that expand outward, challenging perceptions of stability and space.
She uses copper carbonate, coloured slips, and gold lustre, and often employs a reduction technique to evoke vibrant, shifting colours that reference both geological and celestial phenomena. Each piece is a meditation on interconnectedness, inviting reflection on world citizenship and the outdated nature of territorial boundaries.
Her approach is rooted in curiosity and responsiveness to material, allowing process and experimentation to lead. The resulting forms are quietly powerful; anchored in meaning, yet open to the imagination.
Claire holds a BA in Ceramics and was awarded a Crafts Council grant in 1999 to establish her practice. That same year, she became a professional member of the Craft Potters Association. Based in Warwick, she works from her home studio and has exhibited widely across the UK. Her work has been collected internationally, with hundreds of pieces acquired by private collectors worldwide.
