An early career as a features illustrator meant Tina Willis-Jones spent a lot of time drawing people. She has always believed in the importance of well observed and analytically informed drawing and it is this which informs her figurative and portrait work.
In her portraits she aims to capture a good likeness but also to achieve a psychological depth when responding to the energy of the sitter.
She works in conte pencil, soft pastel and oils.
Prior to becoming an Associate Tina exhibited in the RBSA Friends, Open and Portrait Prize exhibitions. Other recent exhibitions include work in The Pastel Society Annual Exhibitions 2020 and 2021. She took part in Sky Portrait Artist of the Year 2020.
Tina accepts portrait commissions and regularly teaches Portrait and Life Drawing classes.
