Malcolm Brookes trained at Birmingham College of Art and Crafts before embarking on a successful career in secondary school teaching.
Today, he is semi-retired but continues to teach part-time and run adult education evening classes in painting and drawing. He also lectures at various art societies in the region.
He was elected as an Associate of the RBSA in 1970, and a Member in 1974. Brookes acted as Vice President of the RBSA between 1998 and 2005.
Malcolm has staged solo exhibitions at Worcester Art Gallery, the Midland Art Centre and Malvern Winter Gardens. He regularly participates in group exhibitions at the Royal Cambrian Academy, Dudley Art Gallery and the Birmingham Pastel Society. His primary media are oils, gouache and pastel.
