Linda Barlow has a background in textiles having gained an MA in fine art textiles from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2010.
Drawing on her first degree in social sciences, her work focussed on the changing social position of women. She made large wall-hung textile pieces and textile animations on research based subjects such as artists who are mothers and women’s experience of the menopause. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has work in the Quilters Guild National Collection.
More recently she has rediscovered her love of painting, particularly oils. She firmly believes that where you make work has a huge impact on its outcome and to this end she goes on as many artist residencies as she can. She has made work in Iceland, Shetland, Ireland, Switzerland, Cornwall and Wales.
