George Yeeles Loades took up painting as light relief from engineering studies and attended numerous art courses including three years with the OCA. Being a native of the North East coast he has a strong interest in marine subjects ranging from the days of the steam colliers and the unglamorous heavy marine industry of the area, to the pleasant aspects of the traditional British seaside, creeks, rivers and foreshore. A strong tonal contrast underpins the atmosphere and feeling of the work. Other subjects include landscape, buildings and he sometimes ventures into cubist interpretations.
He is an active member of Ludlow Art Society and has exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists. Most of his mediums include watercolour and occasionally oil and acrylics.
