Cynthia Pearson’s career in textiles began with a course in Printed and Woven Textiles at Stourbridge College of Arts and Crafts. She subsequently gained a distinction for the City and Guilds Embroidery Course at Bournville College of Art.
She has worked as a college lecturer and external assessor as well as Textile Artist in Residence at Bewdley Museum Craft Workshops. She was elected an Associate of the RBSA in 2003 and as a Member in 2007. She regularly exhibits at the RBSA and Bewdley Open Studios.
Cynthia’s work is always dependent on the intrinsic qualities of fabric and thread. She exploits the way in which light reflects on various surfaces. All of her textile pieces are a direct response to familiar surroundings. For example, nature: the changing times of day and the seasons are constant inspirations in her work.
