Chris Tkacz is a painter who trained in Fine Art at Birmingham School of Art, Margaret Street in the mid 1970s. His work at this time embraced American Abstract Expressionism and fused it with a hint of English Romanticism.
Now retired, after spending more than 30 years in Art and Design education, Chris is currently working full time to produce paintings. His work reflects the influences of his formative years but also extends the viewers experience of mainly rural landscapes that change through the weather, the seasons and by human intervention. Topography will always inform his work but colour, mood and physically making the paintings adds extra layers of relevance.
