Anthony Sawbridge

Anthony Sawbridge trained under Fleetwood Walker RA in Birmingham. He has held senior posts in secondary schools, chief examiner in art, arts council lecturer and course director at the Birmingham and Midland institute. He was elected as an Associate of the RBSA in 1957 and as a Member in 1964. Anthony held the position of President of the RBSA in 1987, a post held for five years.

Anthony’s work has been on exhibition in galleries throughout the UK and abroad, but he is mainly known as a Midlands painter whose works are included in public and private collections. He has had his work commissioned by the BBC and other public bodies.

He works mainly in acrylics and his chosen interests are the interactions between people and their environment.
