Andrew Shorthouse lives in Sheffield but comes from a family of artists in Leicestershire; GS Shorthouse PVPRMS HS and Vivienne Cawson VPRBSA. He was a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in Sheffield until his retirement in 2010, when he spent 18 months with the Leicester portrait painter, Paul Wright. He now devotes most of his time to oil portraiture and landscapes. He has had work accepted at the RBSA on a regular basis at Friends, Open, Prize and Candidates’ exhibitions over the past 10 years. He was elected an RBSA member in 2022. He has received awards and commendations at the RBSA, Patchings Art Festival, and at various local open competitions. His work has featured in The Artist magazine.
He donates commissions fees to St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield, where he is a patron.
