Arts Award Supporter
The aims of the RBSA and RBSA Gallery
The RBSA (Royal Birmingham Society of Artists) is an artist led charity which supports artists and promotes engagement with the visual arts through a range of inclusive activities: exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations and other events.
As part of the above aims, the RBSA Gallery offers education workshops to children and young people. We hope this will result in an increase of visits by young people and greater participation in learning activities.
Our Arts Award offer
The RBSA Gallery is owned by the RBSA. Therefore, we are a space run by artists for artists. We also have accredited museum status due to our Archive and Permanent Collection. This means we have a range of resources to incorporate into our Arts Award Offer.
- Invitations to all Private Views of RBSA exhibitions. This provides the chance to attend an exhibition opening, meet the artists whose work is on display and network with artists and buyers.
- RBSA Members and Associates can give talks, exhibition tours and demonstrations to Arts Award groups. This offers a valuable insight into professional arts practice and curatorship.
- Discounts to RBSA workshops and Summer Schools. Tailored workshops can also be arranged for Arts Award organisations who wish to book a specific workshop to be delivered within the Gallery or at another venue (school or centre).
- Volunteering at the Gallery. Volunteer opportunities vary throughout the year and can include: helping with mailing, researching the Permanent Collection or helping with annual family friendly art activities. There is also the opportunity to take part in a young persons’ focus group, which aims to help increase local young people’s awareness of the Gallery and access to its resources.
All of the above present the opportunity to take part in the arts, enjoy and appreciate the arts, volunteer and meet arts professionals.
Our Arts Award target audience
Local young people and students, aged from 16 to 25, who are in secondary/college/university education or are part of a relevant youth organisation. The audience will be interested in the visual arts and considering careers in areas such as practicing art, teaching art, working in a gallery or working in a museum/archive.
