Jan Gay
In her final year of a BA in Art and Design at Bournville College, Jan worked as a visiting artist at Solihull Maternity Hospital. Her work is now on permanent display here. Recent exhibitions include Shortcut to America inspired by a touring holiday. This was held at the Richard Attenborough Centre, Leicester and Birmingham Central Library. Jan has also exhibited at Warwick University Library and the Touchwood Shopping Centre. She is a Member of various professional goups and tutors art classes. Geometry is an important element in Jan’s work. Whether a range of mountains or a weathered fishing boat, the subject matter acts as a starting point for exploring structure and abstraction. Working in acrylic, oil and mixed media, Jan avoids representational images and encourages the medium to speak for itself.
