David White

David trained as an artist at Birmingham College of Art and graduated as a teacher at Leicester College of Art. Subsequently he gained an M.A. in Art Education. He taught in Midland schools until retiring early to become a full-time artist in 1996. His early interest in collagraph printmaking was renewed and he developed his personal style of painting by combining collage techniques and oil-based printing inks. He was elected as an associate of the RBSA in 2001, and as a member in 2003. He exhibits widely and his work is in many private collections. David is an elected Member of the Easel Club, Birmingham Art Circle and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. David’s main mediums are printmaking and painting. The theme of his work is to contrast man-made forms with organic qualities in the natural landscape. The sources are often imaginative but he also refers to objects or the human figure in the studio and the awe-inspiring landscapes he has visited. His observed studio objects become a geometric structure against the ever-changing moods and power of nature. David does not undertake commissions.
