Paula Hamilton

Born in Leamington, but brought up in Kent, Paula studied for a degree in Textile Art at Camberwell and went on to the Royal College of Art for post graduate study. She became Head of Art at a Secondary school in Solihull, a job she loved, and stayed there for 18 years. She was elected as an associate of the RBSA in 2013. Paula is Chairman of Solihull Artists’ Forum and belongs to several other professional bodies. Work has regularly been exhibited at Open Exhibitions, locally and nationally and many galleries in the UK. She won first prize in the Prize Exhibition at the RBSA in 2012. Paula now finds herself living close to where she started out and feels certain that the landscapes she observed as a small child have a resonance now that she paints them as an adult. Paula started to paint landscapes following a house move to north Worcestershire; it comes naturally to respond to these beautiful surroundings. She attempts to capture the feel of a season or time of day, heightening the sensation of a particular landscape by the use of colours, layers and silhouette and uses this as her motivation.
