Andrew Shorthouse

I live in Sheffield but come from a family of artists in Leicestershire (GS Shorthouse PVPRMS HS, Vivienne Cawson RBSA). I was a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in Sheffield until my retirement in 2010, when I took up oil portrait painting with Paul Wright in Leicester. I now devote most of my free time to oil portraits. I have had work accepted at the RBSA on a regular basis at Open, Friends’ and Prize exhibitions over the past 5 years. I was elected ARBSA at the first attempt in 2016. I have received awards and commendations at the RBSA, Patchings Art Festival, and at various local open competitions. My work has been featured in The Artist magazine (see image). I accept commissions for oil portraits. Fees are donated to St Lukes’ Hospice in Sheffield, where I am one of the patrons. A recently accepted commission currently underway is a portrait of the first lady Master Cutler in Sheffield in 400 years and planned for permanent exhibition in the Cutlers’ Hall, Sheffield.
